Elephant Wisdom

IMG_7304I wrote something a little different this time. In 2009 I left home and spent several months traveling in Asia and Australia – and something funny happened to me.

You’ve probably heard that common expression about people traveling to “find themselves,” but I had a different experience. What happens when you are cut-off from the familiar for a long time? What happens to the ideas of who you are?

While in Asia I spent three months in India, and so it felt appropriate to use Ganesh, the “Remover of Obstacles,” as a way to describe my experience.

The essay was published in Elephant Journal.
