Tweet tweet – it’s a shark

In the movie Jaws, you can always tell when a shark is nearby because of that classic sound: “dah-nah, dah-nah.” When you hear that, you know someone needs to get out of the water – fast.

In real life though, sharks aren’t the ocean’s equivalent of a rattlesnake – they don’t warn you with sound when they’re near. With a little help from technology though, this is beginning to change: a program in Australia has begun tagging sharks so that they tweet when near shore.

Read more about this program, and about some dangerous sharks, in my latest article, “#SurfersforDinner, in Guru Magazine.
